Regarding the public path proposal update from the April 2017 newsletter:

Very good news that the mud path through Alcova Heights Park
is a good alternative to connect S. Quincy St. to S. George Mason Dr.

Even better news that Arlington County has $4 million in funding available and set aside
to help build this alternate path (parallel to the NFATC childcare path being taken away).

Considering that the initial concern of losing the NFATC childcare center path is
being resolved with the improvement of the Alcova Heights Park mud path, and

Considering that homeowners along the NFATC perimeter would stand to lose
the quiet, safety, and privacy (that we paid for as part of the purchase price of our homes),
with the construction of a public path behind our backyards, and

Considering that such a public path behind our homes
    would have very limited use,
be hidden and very difficult to police,
would have very few access points, and escape routes,
and would give criminal access to our backyard perimeter, and

Considering that there is already a problem with recent burglaries
and police activity on / near S. 6th St., as well as problems with the
selling / distribution of illegal drugs, in our neighborhood,

I would like to propose that the January 2017 request / petition to the GSA / NFATC to
construct a public path behind our homes (to connect S. 3rd St. to S. Quincy St.)
    be cancelled.
